All of this infrastructure serves the same purpose: making hidden things visible. The human’s job is to anticipate which variables matter and surface them before the agent needs them. If you work in my area of research, this will sound familiar. It is the same intellectual move as mechanistic interpretability: exposing internal causal structure to make reasoning tractable.
